ECOSpace Sustainable Development Demonstrator

Lauder College are building a new sustainable building on campus in Dunfermline.

Lauder College's ECOSpace Sustainable Development Demonstrator

The centre will promote the best practice in sustainability

The thinking behind this is to provide a demonstration project for the East of Scotland and offer leading edge thinking to other organisations particularly public sector, training providers and SMEs.

The new centre will promote the engagement of learners and industry to develop and applying best practice in sustainability. The centre will provide Lauder College with a flexible and accessible state of the art learning environment.

The project proposal has three main components:

  • The creation of a sustainable building that will be designed and constructed using sustainable principles.  This in turn will be used to teach sustainable learning (including work based learning and technology transfer) and link with key stakeholders.  The building will be open to visitors, other FE and HE students throughout Scotland and Europe.
  • ASPIRE: A centre for students with severe learning difficulties and complex needs, of all ages and likely to be resident in West and Central Fife.
  • A construction centre for those interested in a career in the construction industry, and to provide routes into technical and professional skills training. The training to take place in this centre will include traditional skills such as carpentry and also skills training in sustainable construction such as new and alternative energy sources.
