Penkridge Parish Council

Penkridge Parish Council was formed in 1894. It then served a population of just over 2,000 but today it has grown to nearly 10,000. It is a small market town in the centre of the UK which has retained all the facilities and services developed over the years e.g. railway link, local industry, health and social facilities, shops, market, five schools and the M6 motorway. It still has a strong agricultural community and the landscape surrounding the town is pleasant, interspersed with woods and with wild Cannock Chase heathland and forest nearby. The River Penk flows through the centre of our community, as does the Staffs. & Worcs. Canal.

The people of Penkridge are resilient, hard working and neighbourly and their Parish Council prides itself on taking on new challenges and new ideas. The community boasts dozens of successful voluntary organisations, many meeting in the community owned halls and centres. Penkridge Parish Council, through its precept, supports many of these groups. Change is inevitable – but Penkridge Parish Council wants to see that change to be sustainable for the benefit of future generations. We will work tirelessly to try and achieve that.
