Welcome to SEE Change
SEE (Social, Environmental and Economic) Change is a three year sustainable development demonstrator project based in the West Midlands.
Its central aim is to support the regions progress towards a sustainable future and help establish it as the national leader in sustainable development.
A sustainable future is important to everyone and SEE Change will reflect this by providing practical support to three diverse stakeholder groups:
This represents a powerful mix of individuals and organisations that can have a positive impact on the environment, both now and in the future.
The key delivery vehicle for the SEE Change project will be a SEE Change Sustainable Technologies Centre located in Staffordshire; an area that is now widely recognised as the regional centre for the development of renewable energy technologies and which offers a practical approach to sustainable development.
The Centre
The Centre will be created by a regional partnership, including, Rodbaston College, Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and Pro Enviro. The project is supported by David Kidney MP (Stafford).
The Centre will give organisations access to training and capacity building for sustainability as well as best practice examples of current sustainability projects. The Centre and its regional activities will help stimulate interest and activity in developing further pilot projects in sustainability and sustainable technologies with partners in the West Midlands.
The invaluable experience of the project will be captured and shared on an on-going basis through collaboration with wider stakeholders, including other SEE Change Centres.
In order to demonstrate the concepts of the SEE Change project more effectively, a pilot centre is being developed in Rugby, Warwickshire. The Rugby SEE Change Centre will develop the initial framework of the project and demonstrate knowledge transfer concepts and provide training for each of the stakeholder groups, before transferring the experience to the full scale centre in Staffordshire.
The Key Features of the Project
A Centre for Sustainable Development Technologies
This state-of-the-art centre will showcase prototypes, working models and case studies of the latest technological achievements and thinking in sustainability from a global perspective.
Sustainable Development Demonstration Projects
The creation of regional sustainable development demonstrator projects with the participation of key stakeholders.
Sustainable Development Education and Learning
Through working with key partners such as the Learning Skills Council and Centres of Vocational Excellence, the project will help accelerate the skills of the regional workforce and promote the involvement of regional industrial organisations in the manufacturing and installation of sustainable technologies; this is key to building a more sustainable future.
SEE Change will also facilitate integration of sustainable development into the Further and Higher Education curriculum through partnership with the regions Colleges and Universities.
Knowledge Management
SEE Change aims to collect and disseminate knowledge and Best Available Technology in sustainability to key stakeholders through a multimedia Knowledge Management system that will allow easy access to everyone in an environmentally sustainable way. Learning materials will cover a wide-range of topics such as sustainable development, industrial symbiosis and industrial ecology.
The Benefits of SEE Change
